Public Transportation in Jordan

as a Masters Student in a program with a focus on Environment Management and Policy, I was asked to come up with an idea that would reduce the amount of greenhouse gas emissions in my country… in the beginning it was quiet difficult to think of something considering the Jordan for most part is not an industrial country, yet and while riding a taxi cab and idea just struck me.

I started thinking why do we find it easier to take taxi cabs or buy our own cars, other than to satisfy the social accepted human ego, we do that because we can rely on the current network of public transportation to get us to where we want, when we want, and then I started thinking what if we had a properly structured public transportation system, having buses coming in at a specific station on specific times, wouldn’t be much appealing to use since it would be much cheaper? and if we pointed out how much it really costs to for a taxi per person service, and when I say cost I mean the ecological footprint of such a service as in how many trees cut, how much Carbon Dioxide emitted, how many ice glaciers are melted and so on and so forth, would be people feel more obligated to use public transportation? is this issue worth exploring and exploiting, would do you think, please give me your feedback here I’d really appreciate it
